About Victoria
Hello and welcome, here you will find out more about me, both personally and professionally. Trying to figure out at a young age what career would suit you is a minefield; one thing I did know is that I have always had a passion for working with people and never saw myself working in an office behind a desk. My choices started when at 16 I decided to go to college and complete a level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education this enabled me to move onto university where I completed a degree in Early Childhood Studies. My working career started in a private day care nursery with babies aged 3-18 months, where I gained experience and became the nursery class supervisor. During the next 10 years I worked in different settings, both private and state run, in varying different roles. Though I felt very passionate about working with children and helping them to reach their full potential, I felt my developing expertise and knowledge was leading me to want to help in a more personal way. This is what prompted me to start training to become a counsellor. After four years, I reached my goal of becoming a fully qualified counsellor and started working in a variety of settings with adults.
My experience working with clients has come from volunteering in low-cost counselling agencies, The Listening Post & Essential Space, to running my full-time private practice. To continue my growth as a counsellor I completed the counselling qualifications which enables me to work Children and Young People, this means I can work with children and young people aged up to 18 years.
When I’m not working as a counsellor, I have two Labradors Barney and Reggie who encourage me to get out into the fresh air and explore the nature around us. A way I like to relax is being creative with different arts, crafts, upcycling and home renovations. I have recently embarked on a challenge to convert a van into a campervan which will allow for exploring, adventures and being out in nature. My creativity is something that I bring to the counselling room if suitable for the individual.
